The Verona Arena is not only one of the most famous monuments in Italy: it is one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in Northern Italy and one of the great historical and cultural symbols of the city.
During this guided tour, we will discover when it was built, how the Romans constructed it, and what role it played in ancient Verona’s urban life. We will also explore the most vivid and spectacular side of its history: what events took place inside the Arena? Who were the gladiators really? Did they fight only against each other, or also against wild animals? And what did these shows represent for Roman society?
